Just happened across these FEMA technical Advisory publications last week, it was intended for Dams in the Carolinas but is just as relevant to New York State and the Erie Canal Embankment Integrity Program.

The issues are the same.. unsafe dams creating flood potential & a lack of understanding in the general community about the risk they are in.

Yep.. pretty bold statement..but true.

Here is what we might expect to be written for our area once FEMA gets involved..after the Dams have been cleared.

Technical Advisory 1: Risk Reduction Measures for Dams
* TA1-RiskReductionMeasuresforDams_508.pdf (342.91 kB - downloaded 3 times.)

Technical Advisory 2: Risk Exposure and Residual Risk for Dams
* TA2-RiskExposureandResidualRiskRelatedtoDams_508.pdf (231.65 kB - downloaded 2 times.)

Technical Advisory 3: Dam Awareness
* TA3-DamAwareness_FINAL_508.pdf (669.41 kB - downloaded 3 times.)

Of course the names of the NY Publications may look something like this:

Technical Advisory 1: Risk Reduction Measures for NY Erie Canal
Technical Advisory 2: Risk Exposure and Residual Risk for NY Erie Canal Dams
Technical Advisory 3: Erie Canal Embankment Dam Awareness
