Now you read the title of this post, and it might seem like the answer is an obvious "NO!"
But it all depends on which side of the "protest" you are on... doesn't it?
And of course, everyone in our Country has the right to "protest", or at least they think they do. And most times the protest is about fairness, equality, or human rights... but sometimes the protests are for "nefarious" reasons.
But sometimes the groups & people protesting may NOT understand that they are actually fighting on the "wrong side" of the argument.
And YES there is a wrong side to the protest if the SAFETY of the PUBLIC is the matter at hand. But to really understand the issue of "protesting" it's important to look at how and why protest groups work... and that means selecting the right "color".Here's an interesting article on the "Colors" of protest, and why certain activist groups chose the colors they rally under. The image below captures a few of the highlights, read the full article by using the link provided
https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a/red-yellow-blue-green-the-colors-of-protests/4697859.htmlAnd everyone is well aware of the "history" of our own internal "protests" in this Country, the United States of America. The strife between people here is well documented and surprisingly supports exactly what was written in the first article... "colors matter" when it comes to protest.
And the issues & division in America is STILL centered on the choice of COLOR... Red vs Blue. You would think that those who are smart enough would see the pattern where the people on the "wrong side" in the past US Protests were wearing "RED" not Blue.
In fact those who were NOT wearing Blue in the first US Civil War, were also the ones flying the Confederate Flag, and we are told lived in predominately "red states". they wore Gray, and Red, and Yellow... as they did NOT represent the Union of this Country, who stood for the Blue.
Even those in the "last US Civil War" that happened about 1 year ago with the Insurrection at the US Capital, flew the Confederate Flag during their protest. They wore lots of RED hats, and waved signs to support their "king", who lost his bid for "reelection" as US president.
The picture below is a reminder of that day... January 6, 2021
Of course there are many who may disagree with these FACTS. Those folks usually call the people who stormed the US Capital by a different name... "patriots".Because DENIAL is the best tool to avoid the TRUTH!And today there is a new protest going on, one that has a social media group choosing to fight against a public safety. They have chosen RED SIGNS and YELLOW SHIRTS as a way to show their support for their leaders & cause. And this social media group has taken the spread of false information to a whole new level.
Those leaders of this new protest movement simply use DENIAL of the entire safety problem (with unsafe Canal Embankments) as their main message, and also a good measure of misinformation, by trying to turn a public safety conversation to one focused on "environmental issues".
The group and leader have denied both the structural science of earthen dams and common sense reasoning in their pursuit to protest a necessary change that will improve the safety of the Erie Canal, and all communities it passes through.
You can see the "colors" this protest group has chosen to use below
Seems to me, that this social media group is following right in the footsteps of another past protest...
Following a "leader" that was guiding followers down the wrong path, with the wrong message...
And no matter what anyone else tried to tell them, they refused to listen...
Because they were the ones who were "right"... everyone else was wrong. Can you see any notable difference between the colors of these two protest groups?
