Mike, and all reading this post... This now makes almost a DOZEN trees that have caused issues along the Empire Trail or the Erie Canal Waterway since it opened on July 4, 2020. Trees are one of the big issues this season, along with keeping the Canal Locks working

That's about 8 weeks time, and the New York State Canal Corporation is averaging more than 1 tree related issue per week so far this year.

Sadly this Facebook group, and it's leadership, like Ms. Agte, still fail to see the signs, fail to understand the real problems and are still fighting AGAINST fixing the Erie Canal & it's dangerous issues with trees. I guess when a tree finally falls and kills someone, this Stop the Canal Clear-cut group just might take note and stop this charade they are playing, fighting public safety by saying "shade is cool". Shade trees falling on people really isn't cool at all, it's deadly.

Unfortunately, the unlucky person who gets crushed by that falling trees, will most likely be blamed for "not watching out where they were going" by the people who subscribe to this Facebook group. The group's leaders will somehow try to also blame the NYS Canal Corporation for "not doing their job", even though they have tried to stand in their way for the past 3 years, and are telling others to do just that even today.

After all there is NOTHING wrong with trees along the Erie Canal to this group, despite any and ALL evidence that may be contrary.
