So now "Chuck" is saying that trees should be left on earthen embankments so that HIS walk doesn't have any wind chill issues?

Somehow he believes those tree trunks block all wind movement along the trail?

Or is it just something that only "sounds good", with zero facts to support the claim?

This is the same type of nonsense that Ms. Agte and Ms. Maier are stating: that unsafe trees MUST be left on these aging earthen dams so they get "shade"

Seems Ms. Agte agrees:

Elizabeth R. Agte January 20 at 8:45 PM  ·
It was cold for this evening’s walk along the canal. (Minus -1º windchill) As usual we were grateful for the trees that act as a wind screen. If the trees were gone not only would it be an impossibly bitter trek, but the towpath that the towns plow would be completely drifted over.

And this Facebook Group members agrees with Trail Walker Chuck:

Sadly these rather "selfish" Empire Trail users somehow think wind & shade protection is MORE important than making the Erie Canal safe, and protecting Canal Neighbors from the real probability of embankment breaches and flooding. And that folks is exactly why the ECNA put a Forum Board dedicated to addressing the misinformation being spread on Facebook.

Here's the description of that ECNA Forum Board

Response to Facebook Group Opposition

The ECNA will respond to arguments supported by a Facebook Group called "Stop The Canal Clear-Cut" and expose them for what they are; misrepresentations of the truth, with little to no scientific support. We will refute all claims made by the STCC that are NOT based or supported by scientific facts... always.

Fighting against Public Safety projects in our community must stop, join the discussion.
