An EASY solution to the Stop the Canal Clear-cut Problems
« on: August 25, 2020, 11:09:14 am »
Well it's STCC FACT CHECKING TIME once again.

The Rochester area just had a HEAVY rain storm last night and from what this Facebook group has been saying online, about Canal Embankments that will disappear and wash away in a heavy rain, we felt it's time to see if their opinions are accurate or not.

This ECNA co-founder just happens to have a 400' long, cleared canal embankment we can see right behind our headquarters here in Brockport. Here's a couple pictures showing that "all is well" with the new grass, and the embankment dams. No washouts, no mudslides, and no devastating erosion seen.

It now should become rather obvious to those who follow this group, either in support or against their crusade against canal safety, that this Facebook group just likes to complain about the safety changes to the canal. They simply do NOT like the way it looks now, and they want ALL of us to know it. Go back and read the post and comments, they don't even like the lawn mowing, or the lawnmower itself. It's always the same, "poor canal and poor us".

Well The ECNA has heard this group loud & clear, and we have the answer to your dilemma...

Why don't you all go somewhere else to walk if you don't like the new "Re-imagined" Canal?

It's not like there aren't PLENTY of other parks around Rochester & Monroe County to walk in. Here's a few if you can't find them yourselves.

And here's a couple websites to help you out as well, with complete lists of Parks & Walks that will have plenty of trees and NO embankments to wash away.

https://www.cityofrochester.gov/parks/

https://www2.monroecounty.gov/parks

Please, to save us all from your "phony despair" , go and walk anywhere else but the Erie Canal Trail, especially if all you are going to do is complain about your walk..

It's hard to tell if it's just the fact that your group did NOTHING to STOP the Canal Embankment clearing that irks you all,  or is it that you were all so wrong about deciding to fight against a public safety project?

What do the rest of you think?

Just a note to all reading these posts.

The Erie Canal Neighbors Association (ECNA) does not close it's Discussion Forum to anyone, unlike the STCC Facebook group that is trying to stop the safety work going on along the canal here in our area. We allow anyone to join in, and our Guests can even post comments here on the ECNA Forum. We have dedicated an entire board here to the discussion of supporting or stopping the embankment clearing efforts, and fighting misinformation being spread by these Facebook folks.

We also know that the Stop the Canal Clear-cut group's leaders & members regularly check here for updates & information on the Canal Embankment work, and what we have to say about their groups' antics. We have been rather harsh on them, and their leaders, for a reason.. they are a danger to all canal neighbors living below these unsafe embankments.

Can anyone tell us why not one member of the Stop the Canal Clearing group has tried to defend their actions on this Forum?

Not one person from that Facebook group has challenged anything we've stated about their group & it's miss-guided efforts.

It should show all of us that when confronted with REAL facts and the HONEST truth about the condition of the Erie Canal, this Fakebook group has no argument that they can defend to keep trees, and they seem unable to refute the facts & truth about Embankment Dam Safety by the NY Canal Corporation or the experts on proper dam maintenance.

Not one post will be found on this Forum Board to defend the actions or words of this Facebook group, or it's fractured leadership, though it claims to have 600+ members that have joined it so far. That is truly amazing, especially for a group that has so much to say on their own Fakebook pages
