It appears to me that everyone has missed the point regarding removal of brush and weeds.

It has nothing to do with shade. It is entirely to do with observation of the embankment DAM.

This is a 'dangerous high hazard dam' as specified by numerous responsible government engineering  facilities.

The brush and weeds are a nuisance when looking for 'seeps', leaks and burrowing animals. When mowed down to NYPA specification, canal walkers, workers and drones can easily spot a wet spot and start observing it.

Dam Inspection is standard procedure to ensure those living under high hazard dams, can sleep at night without worry.

Now, if you don't like that idea and you live UNDER one of these dams, you have two choices, complain like hell about these ignorant people on social media, who are more worried about milkweed, gophers & shade, or sell up and move away (instead of buying flood insurance).

Or, if you don't like that idea and you walk along the Empire Trail on top of these dams, you have two choices, support ignorant people on social media, who are more worried about themselves than the safety of the public, or go somewhere else to ride your bicycle or walk your doggie (if you dont like the view).
