Our response to Ms Giammusso
I saw your post on the STCC web page and the reference to Dr Donald Gray and wooded slopes.
Unfortunately, this is totally incorrect as Dr Gray's article is about wooded slopes and not an earthen embankment dam. AND worse Elizabeth Agte knows this full well. She is promoting a lie.
The difference is this embankment is holding up millions of gallons of water ABOVE an entire community, if it breaches, hundreds of lives will be lost. It's the water pressure that is the problem, and this does not occur on natural wooded slopes, which is what Gray is referring to.
I challenged him on this some years ago, and here is what he said --
I don’t know of any earth dams where woody vegetation was purposely planted or allowed to grow on a face of the dam.
https://eriecanalfacts.wordpress.com/2018/04/19/testimony-in-question-vegetation-on-dams/Ms Agte and Ms Maier are fully aware of this, and other statements from experts who all condemn these trees. This is why they are attempting to call these dams something different, but you can't get away from the fact of the enormous hydrostatic pressure of the hundreds of millions of gallons of water be held 70 feet in the air above the poor souls in Crystal Springs and Bushnells Basin.
It's a dam!
