Pittsford Town Supervisor is a DAMmed liar!
« on: July 28, 2021, 09:20:38 am »
In his recent post to the STCC Facebook page he states "we carried the day in part with expert testimony from a recognized slope stability engineer at the University of Michigan, to the effect that trees on embankments not only do no harm to the stability of structures, they enhance them, because their root systems help to hold the earthen banks together."

Now Mr. Smith knows full well that Prof Donald Gray made a statement to the ECNA which refuted his testimony.

Here is the full story

In summary Prof Gray said "I donít know of any earth dams where woody vegetation was purposely planted or allowed to grow on a face of the dam.  Such is not the case with earthen levees where vegetation can often be found growing on both the landward and water sides."

And Mr. Smith knows full well that the STCC leaders Agte & Maier conned Gray into thinking they were discussing 'wooded slopes' not earthen embankment dams.

I had to chuckle at his brash statement, "There is no public need for clear cutting"  Sort of flies in the face of all the experts, like FEMA, ASDSO, USACE  and NYDEC  - including their expert from Michigan Donald Gray.

But then, Bill knows best, doesn't he?

As are most of the other members of this group, many who are PUBLIC EMPLOYEES or ELECTED OFFICIALS, and as such should know better than to be caught up supporting the "wrong side" of a NYS Public Safety Program.

After all, didn't they swear to uphold the laws of this State? To protect the Public, from danger?

The NYS Dept of Conservation says the TREES on Canal Embankments are UNSAFE, grass is the only allowed cover for earthen embankment Dams.

FEMA, among many others, agrees with the State on this.

Sadly the picture below tells a much different story, that VOTERS can correct the next time these people come up for election or to have their contract renewed.
