Even hot air has some value at times, this FB group doesn't seem to be adding any value, other than providing a space to complain together.

You know it all looks good with hot air, its rather "uplifting" and then reality sets in and the whole thing deflates right before your eyes.

Most people are starting to see that the truth is right there in front of all of us, just look. When talking about the condition of the NYS Erie Canal it's pretty simple, if it's closed more than it's open it's most likely because the canal itself, it's physical structures and embankments, have gone from being a stable & sound asset for the State to now being a decaying, unsafe array of structural liabilities.

NYPA has changed Flood maps across the State, and they have also REGISTERED every cement dam & spillway along the canal in the New York State Dam Registry. None of these Dams were listed when the prior owner ran things. By the way, the majority of those new NYPA / NYS Canal Dams are listed has High Hazard, just like the raised earthen embankments.

Neither New York Power Authority of the Canal Corporation want to be talked about in the National news cycle as just another Earthen Dam Flood like Midland...but with a warning that wasn't heeded by locals.

So why would anyone think or believe that safety isn't the real issue here, and that these two NY State agencies are lying about why tree removal is so vital to regaining a stable canal system?

This Facebook group will look back at what they did in a few years and wonder why they could see the "forest for the trees".
