Your life or the trees. Which will it be?
« on: October 08, 2019, 01:51:24 pm »
The latest diatribe emanating from The STCC Facebook page is now about planting more trees. No one can argue about that. There must be thousands of places for this good work to be carried out.

Since I have lived on my little patch of heaven along the canal, I have planted over 70 trees on a 60 feet wide lot, mostly Arbor Vitae as a screen. It's not hard to do, and if every householder in Fairport, Pittsford and Brighton did the same, we'd all have a little more privacy, and more than compensate for the removal of the Embankment Dam nightmare trees.

The STCC are crusading for trees, and care less for the people who are in danger. But to say these dangerous trees should be left where they are, is just stupidity. STUPIDITY!

What is it that these people just do not understand? Everyone is telling them the trees have to go. The main reason is the inability to properly inspect this man made structure, holding millions of gallons of water, high in the air.

The STCC is now trying to make out they came up with wild flowers as an alternative to trees. The ECNA offered this suggestion almost two years ago, as an alternative to grass. The NYPA also did a video on the subject. So why are these STCC people just jumping on ths bandwagon? Is it because they realise they've lost the battle on trees, and need to find another crusade? The trouble is, they've even got that wrong, and are showing flowers that are growing several feet high, which, of course, would be absolutely useless because it would be impossible to carry out inspections.

The answer is low level ground cover that flowers, like Myrtle. That doesn't need mowing, which is something else these people are now moaning about. It's unbelievable the drivel they come up with.  It's a pity they don't take up Tupperware parties or knitting.

Wrong flowers Ms Agte-tate. You can't see the wood(chucks) for the flowers!

For some people there will never be enough Literature, Science or Engineering, regarding Dam Safety & Maintenance, to have them chose the "sane & reasonable" answer to that question...sad as that may be.

Human Life is more important than Erie Canal Trees that are making Erie Canal Embankments unsafe.

Still... we try to steer them down the path to the right answer. Here's another example of a State Dam Inspection & Maintenance Guide.. from Nebraska this time. More of the same, in direct contradiction to the Shady Group trying to stop Canal Safety Repairs that protect the public.
